| Giving Back to Mid-Missouri |
Smart Business Products is proud to be locally owned and operated in Columbia. This means many things to you including prompt, accurate service and an outstanding support network.
To charities in Mid-Missouri, our locally-owned business means something more important.
Smart Business Products is proud to support and sponsor many charitable organizations in Mid-Missouri in a variety of ways. "It's getting hard to keep track of the little things," says president/owner Bill Schuette. "The humbling part of it is, it's those little things that mean so much to the organizations we give to."
Most recently, Smart Business Products sponsored the "Leaves of Autumn" Golf Outing in August with the Masonic Home of Missouri. Thirty-six foursomes golfed on August 25th to raise money for the two Masonic Home Children's Programs across Missouri. The Children's Outreach program, provides dental, vision and hearing assistance as well as assistance obtaining needed medical equipment and often help with medical expenses to children in need. The Creating a Partnership/School program helps children in need obtain school supplies and adequate clothing during the school year. Currently, the program is helping 15% of Missouri schools.
"I think people would be amazed to know how many kids go to school without adequate shoes," said Sara Snodderley, Masonic Home of Missouri. "This year's event has raised over $50,000 for these children and sponsors like Smart Business Products make this happen."
Currently, Smart Business Products is a sponsor of the upcoming Youzeum Starlight Bike Ramble to be held at dusk on Saturday, September 27th. The ramble, a recreational bike ride thru downtown Columbia, will kickoff with a Family Fun Ride to begin at 6:30 pm and is appropriate for riders of all ages and abilities. Employee Spotlight:Marc White |
If you have purchased furniture from Smart Business Products, chances are you have met Marc White, Installation and Project Coordinator. Marc has been with SBP since September of 2002 when he was brought on as a furniture installer.
A Hickman graduate, Marc began working as a furniture installer in Columbia in 1997, though he had been learning about office installations since 1995 when he worked in commercial flooring. A quick learner with an eye for detail, Marc picked up furniture systems with ease and was added to the Smart Business team because of his vast knowledge of the market's major manufacturers.
"There isn't enough time in the day to brag on Marc," says Bill Schuette, President. "He continues to be an integral part of the Smart Business family and after 6 years, he continues to exceed every expectation we have of him."
Customers often call to compliment Marc on his timeliness, neatness and professionalism after he has been out on an installation.
In the spring of 2008, Marc began coordinating our installation teams and managing the day-to-day operations of our furniture warehouse and offsite facility.
Marc and his wife Julia have been married for 9 years and have two children: Marc, 3 and Trinity, 1. Marc says furniture installations-even the most difficult ones-are no where near as challenging as keeping up with two toddlers.
In his spare time, Marc enjoys projects around his home (he's currently building a new deck and installing a new koi pond) and disc golf.
