| WHEN DOES $1=$14? |
A dollar spent at a locally owned store is usually spent 6 to 15 times before it leaves the community. When you buy from Smart Business Products, you are reinvesting in your community. You are going to get better service, since we hire people from our community who understand your needs and take the time to get to know you. We also have a vested interest in what goes on in our community and are involved in the Columbia Area Chamber of Commerce, COLORS and the Heart of Missouri United Way. It is our mission to be the premier supplier of business products to you, our valued customers, by providing the utmost quality and care.
Top 5 Reasons to buy Local:
1. Support Yourself--studies have shown that when you buy from a locally owned business, up to 3 times more of your dollars are re-circulated in the local economy.
2. Support your Community--Local non-profit organizations receive 250% more support from locally owned businesses.
3. Create more jobs--Locally owned businesses spend on average 28% of revenue on labor compared to 23% for chains, providing the most jobs to residents of the community
4. Get Better Service--Locally owned businesses often hire people with a better understanding of the products they are selling and take more time to get to know customers.
5. Buy What You Want, Not What They Want You to Buy--A multitude of small businesses, each selecting products based not on a national sales plan but on the needs of their local customers, guarantees a much broader range of product choices
Buying local makes good sense and we thank you for your support! |

| Play it Smart...Do your Part |
Going green is more than talk...it is our commitment to the environment. Smart Business Products offers a wide range of products made from recycled materials. In addition, Green Cleaning is the future of the healthy office. Healthy alternatives to harsh chemicals are not only good for the earth, they are good for you, too! Smart Business Products now has available to our customers a new "Go Green" catalog outlining specific items that are earth-friendly and allow you to work smart, protect our natural resources and help save the planet. From pens to light bulbs to desk trays to cleaners, outfitting a Green office is easier than you may think.
5 Things to Consider
1. Start a recycling program in the office. It's easy to recycle items such as paper, cardboard, plastic and aluminum containers by using special recycling waste containers.
2. How was the product manufactured? Look for products that do the same job but have less of an impact on the environment.
3. Does it contain harmful chemicals or toxins? There are now many cleaning products available that contain little or no toxins. These products are often just as effective as their "less green" counterparts.
4. Is it made of recycled material? Buying products made of recycled materials helps reduce our environmental impact.
5. Is there an energy-efficient alternative? Look for products that help conserve energy, such as longer-life, eco-friendly light bulbs and energy-efficient printers, copiers and faxes
Please contact us today for your Go Green catalog and remember...when we all join in, even small steps in the "green direction" have a huge impact. | |

Many people in Columbia know our building as a source for office products and furniture and most people know the family name tied to it-Schuette. When Bill Schuette, Jr. opened the doors to Smart Business Products in August of 1999, he was banking on a family background in the industry dating back to 1966 and his father, Bill Schuette, Sr., president/owner of Columbia Office Supply (COS). Known throughout Mid-Missouri as "the" local office supply store in Columbia, a fleet of eight trucks delivered supplies to businesses near and far. Then general manager Bill Schuette (Jr.) quickly learned how to keep his customers happy by providing the impeccable customer service that still separates us from others.

5 Easy ways to Go Green
1. Go Recycled! Use recycled office products and furniture whenever you can. Most can be recycled again, once you're done with them, so they help reduce waste, time after time!
2. Light's Out!
If a room isn't being used for 15 minutes or more, turn off the lights.
3. Power Down. At the end of the workday, turn off your computer--and accessories--to save power. If it's plugged into a powerstrip, turn that off, too.
4. Clean the Air.
Accent your office with green plants. They add a natural touch, while helping reduce indoor air pollution.
5. Bring your Own Bag. If you "brown bag it" at lunch, use a reusable bag instead of paper or plastic.
DID YOU KNOW?
In just one year, Americans discard enough office paper to build a 12-foot-high wall of paper that would reach from New York to Seattle.
